FAQs Hypnotherapy

Is it like stage hypnotism?

Stage hypnotism is performed for entertainment and can be amusing. But it is not Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Can I be made to do something against my will?

Absolutely not. You cannot be made to do anything that you would find inappropriate in your normal everyday life. As a member of The Clinical and Therapeutic Hypnosis Association as well as the General Hypnotherapy Register, I work to a high standard of care and abide by their strict code of ethics regarding practice and confidentiality.

Will I get ‘Stuck’

No. In the hands of an expert, Hypnotherapy is completely natural and safe. You are in control and aware of all that is being said and you are able to end the session at any point in the same way you can come out of a daydream if needed.

Isn’t Hypnosis like sleep?

Hypnosis is not sleep. You will be able to concentrate your mind on my voice, while other sounds may become distant. It can be likened to a ‘pre-sleep’ state of conciousness similiar to the state you enter every night before falling asleep.

Does it work for children and teenagers?

Children have great imagination so are good to work with. The use of relaxation and visualisation using stories and characters they are familiar with, all help to create the setting for hypnosis.

For teenagers, the technique is adjusted more to suit their age group and experiences, but again, relaxation and building rapport are important.

Drawing upon Veronica’s experience of working with children, she is happy to work with both you and your child. She is on the specialist register of working with children with the General Hypnotherapy Register and has an up to date Enhanced CRB check.
